George Ball and Son, an independent family-run funeral directors, has for five generations been serving the community and beyond, in their time of great need.

Established in 1870 by George Ball Snr, today George Ball & Son is run by his Great Grand-daughter Margaret Arnison (nee Ball), her son Daniel and his wife Rachel.  We offer a full range of traditional and alternative funeral services and free, comprehensive funeral planning guidance.

Our Vehicles

We are pleased to be able to offer our Jaguar Hearse and Limousine, which were built to our specification and supplied by Wilcox & Co (Limousines) Ltd in January 2018.

We take great pride in their presentation and they are carefully prepared for each funeral and fully maintained in order to supply you with prestigious vehicles.

Our limousine can carry a maximum of 7 passengers (including children). We are able to arrange additional limousines, horse-drawn hearse, MotorBike Hearse, Land Rover Hearse and other vehicles on request

1st Generation: George Ball
George Ball (1846 – 1906) Established the business “George Ball” as a coffin maker and undertaker in 1870.

2nd Generation : George Ball Jnr

George Ball Jnr.George Ball Jnr (1883 – 1954)
Joined his father in the business as a joiner, builder and undertaker, thereby creating “George Ball & Son”.

3rd Generation : Sidney Ball

Sidney BallSidney Ball (1913 – 1992)
Ran the business after the war until 1978 when he passed it on to his daughter, Margaret.

4th Generation : Margaret Arnison

Margaret Arnison (nee Ball) (1946 – present)
In 1978 Margaret took over the running of George Ball & Son where her eldest son, Daniel, was just 5 years old.

Daniel Arnison (1973 – present)
In 1991 Daniel joined his mum in the business full-time.

Noah Arnison (2005 – present) & Jacob Arnison (2006 – present)
Currently helping out in between their university studies.
